100-Ton Master Captain
My story
Captain Jason Domangue grew up with a fishing pole in his hand. He comes from south Louisiana, where the fishing industry runs in the family, and as a kid he chased crappie on Miller’s Ferry near Camden, Alabama. As a teenager he worked as a deckhand on Dauphin Island charter boats, then ran his own inshore guide company and captained offshore charters as a 100-Ton Master.
Competition was always part of it: billfish tournaments, the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, Mardi Gras fishing tournament fundraisers and charity events benefitting good causes. Today Captain Jason focuses on the Crappie Masters Alabama State Trail and fishes national trail events whenever the schedule allows.
Off the water he loves fly fishing, golf and time with his family. He lives in Mobile, Alabama and fishes every chance he gets.
Tournament record
How it began
Jig tying began as a hobby. The vise was an anniversary gift from Jason’s wife, and he used it to tie custom crappie hair jigs for his own tournaments. His fishing buddies wanted them next, and demand grew from there.
Delta Jig Company still ties every jig by hand: 100% custom hair jigs for the discerning fisherman, whether you’re a weekend angler or fishing for a check.
